This motivational poem urges the reader to step up to challenges and take charge of their own future. Facing a challenge is a solitary journey, 'just you and the future', and choices are difficult as the future nears, pulling one forward or pushing one back in fear. Though there is ease and comfort in maintaining the status quo, that is not what we are made for and not how we grow. The first step is the hardest and there is no turning back; but if you simply believe in yourself, your future can be on track. The poem's message is that self-belief is essential for personal growth.

Face the challenge alone

The poet tells the reader to step up to the challenge: there is no crowd to see, it is just you and the future, and where you want to be. As the future draws near, difficult choices will either pull you forward or push you back in fear.

Comfort versus growth

There is such ease in comfort, in maintaining the status quo, but this isn't what we are made for, and this isn't how we grow. Real growth requires leaving the comfort zone behind and embracing change.

The hardest first step

The first step is the hardest and there is no turning back. The poet concludes that you just need to believe in yourself for your future to be on track, self-belief is the key that keeps one moving forward towards one's goals.
