Set in the golden era of Islamic Spain, the Qazi of Cordoba is renowned for impartial justice. When his only son Rupert commits murder, the law demands death. Justice Above Blood
The Qazi of Cordoba is celebrated across Europe for absolute honesty and impartial justice, believing the law of God and state must apply equally to king and beggar. The tragic conflict arises when his own beloved only son, Rupert, commits a murder, for which the strict law prescribes death.
The entire city, the nobles and even the King plead for mercy, and his wife goes mad with grief. Torn by a brutal inner war between his bleeding paternal heart and his conscience as guardian of justice, the Qazi declares that pardoning his son would collapse the foundation of justice and turn Cordoba into a jungle. He signs the death warrant, watches the execution with iron control, and only afterward collapses, weeping as a broken, dying father, having sacrificed his own blood to keep justice alive.
